TESSIE MCCOY, Born in Sumter, SC she began writing at the age of 13 after the unexpected loss of her mother as a way to cope with her feelings. After writing in silence for over a decade she finally began sharing her gifts with the world. She has performed in South Carolina’s Def Poetry Slam as well as various Middle and High Schools where she shares her story of how poetry saved her life.
After spending years running away from her gifts, Tessie found the courage to find her voice; facing her past traumas and embarking on the path to true healing. True Opportunities Of Greatness was birthed out of that healing. The little girl who once felt like a mistake that world would be better off without realized that her voice mattered; that she mattered and could make a difference, no matter how small in someone’s life.
In 2018 she released her first book of poetry, Wilderness. Her second collection of poetry is underway with release date TBD.
In addition to poetry, Tessie is also a screenwriter with multiple tv and film scripts under her belt. Her short film, Cracks in the Foundation is currently making its way through festival season.
